Health Care Now Available From Many Different Providers

The creation of additional medical staff to diagnose and treat patients has been especially important in rural, underserved areas so that those in need can get medical care. Given the growing changes in healthcare and limited amount of providers to provide care for patients, both APRN and PAs have branched out from primary medicine into specialty fields. This has allowed extended outreach of medical care for those in need.

When Antibiotics Quit Working

The United States has often over-prescribed antibiotics when they are not needed. When patients dont take the antibiotics as prescribed (i.e. finishing them), the bacteria are exposed to the antibiotic, but are not killed and they then develop resistance to the antibiotic. When antibiotics fail, we all could face an infection that has the potential to cause us great harm or death. This is very important for the young and elderly populations or those that have weak immune systems from other diseases (cancer, HIV, lupus).

Getting The Most Out Of Your Health Care

Todays health care system is often times overwhelming to residents of our mountain community. As reimbursement decreases for providers, they must in turn see more patients per day in order to keep the clinic open. This is very unfortunate for those needing medical care. Be proactive toward your health, do not be afraid to ask questions. After all it is your health and you have the right to understand. Do not be afraid to follow up with office staff for results or needs.
